Rotten Egg Award !

Tesco receives 2008 Rotten Egg Award

While many global food companies are switching to free range eggs, Tesco has so far failed to make any commitment to end the sale of eggs from caged hens. That's why we awarded the UK's largest retailer with a 2008 'Rotten Egg Award.'

While Tesco is targeted, other companies are celebrated through our Good Egg Awards.

M&S, Waitrose and the Co-op have already ended the sale of shell eggs from caged hens. Sainsbury's have committed to do so by 2010 and Morrisons is planning to go free-range on its own label shell eggs by 2010.

Tesco policies mean over a million hens are confined in cages every year, therefore it must do the right thing and stop selling eggs from caged hens.
