Kliluk, the Spoted Lake
In the hot sun of summer, the water of Spoted lake, located in British Columbia and Washington, evaporates and crystallizes the minerals, forming many white-rimmed circles: shallow pools that reflect the mineral content of the water in shades of blues and greens. It contains one of the worlds highest concentrations of minerals: magnesium sulphate (Epsom salts), calcium and sodium sulphates, plus eight other minerals and traces of four more, including silver and titanium.
The Indians soaked away aches and ailments in the healing mud and waters. One story cites a truce in a battle to allow both warring tribes to tend to their wounded in the Spotted Lake, "Kliluk".

Œufs sur le plat psychédéliques ?
L'imagination peut jouer parfois des tours... En voyant l'image ci-dessous, j'ai aussitôt pensé à des œufs sur le plat au bleu de méthylène cuisinés à la chaîne pour gourmets allumés mais c'était vraiment trop délirant pour être crédible. L'évidence s'est alors imposée à moi : il s'agissait de bassins de geysers assoupis qui avaient déposé, derrière eux, d'opalescentes dentelles aux traces écumeuses.
En fait, comme souvent, la réalité est toute autre... Depuis 1998, la ville de Savannah (Géorgie), au sud des Etats-Unis, a mis en place un nouveau système pour recycler ses eaux usées. Longtemps dépendante de la rivière Savannah, aujourd’hui menacée, la municipalité a décidé d’avoir recours à un dispositif pionnier. A ciel ouvert, comme des geysers, ces pompes brassent ainsi des millions de litres d’eau, lentement purifiés puis acheminés par des canalisations et distribués dans toute la ville. (ici)
