Mettez un œuf frais dans un bocal d'eau pure ; il tombera immédiatement au fond ; mettez cet œuf dans de l'eau fortement salée ; il flottera à la surface ; en mélangeant l'eau pure et l'eau salée, vous arriverez à obtenir un liquide dans lequel l'œuf se tient à n'importe quelle hauteur ; s'il monte à la surface, nous ajouterons un peu d'eau pure ; s'il descend vers le fond, nous jetons dans le bocal une pincée de sel, jusqu'à ce que l'œuf reste entre deux eaux, comme l'indique notre dessin.
