Ici.

Let’s Go Back in TIME

You are looking at the cover from a March 1984 issue of TIME magazine that helped to ignite the low-fat diet craze in America. The article inside began with the headline: Sorry, It’s True. Cholesterol Really Is A Killer.

I remember reading that article. At the time, I found it convincing. (More...)

Coquetiers sur le Flanc

Repas d'œuf à la chandelle, vers 1630
Gottfried von Wedig (1583 - 1641)
(Mahlzeit mit Ei bei Kerzenschein)
huile sur bois
Hessisches Landesmuseum, Darmstadt

Egg for Lateral Thinkers
Ceramic egg-cup

In the 16th century they already used to eat on-the-long-side-lying eggs with the support of egg-cups. The mostly unboiled eggs were cracked and the inside was diped by bread stripes.
The porcelain egg-cup of Jan Heerlein (megaron-studio) offers this kind of dish arrangement to the breakfast egg of today.

Foods Your Dog Should Never Eat

Raw Eggs

There are two problems with giving your dog raw eggs. The first is the possibility of food poisoning from bacteria like Salmonella or E. coli. The second is that an enzyme in raw eggs interferes with the absorption of a particular B vitamin. This can cause skin problems as well as problems with your dog's coat. (Keep reading)

Histoires d'Œufs pour les Petits

Bonjour !
Ishikawa Nozomi, 2007
Traduit du japonais par Mayako KAMEDA
Actes Sud Junior
3-6 ans

Bad Egg Game

Bad egg is a children's playground ball game played in Great Britain and other countries.

One player is chosen as the "bad egg" and turns his back to the other players. "Bad Egg" then asks the others to each name something from a particular group (for example, each player is to name a colour, or a sports team, etc). Once each player has answered, the "Bad Egg" throws a tennis ball over their shoulder, and shouts out one of the answers that had been given by the other players. All players, except "Bad Egg", run in different directions and the person whose answer was shouted out has to run after the ball, and calls "stop!" when they retrieve it.

On hearing "stop!" all players, including the one who went after the ball, remain stationary. All players, except the one with the ball, stand with their legs apart. The player with the ball then attempts to roll it under the legs of one of the other players. If successful, that player becomes "Bad Egg". If unsuccessful, the player who retrieved the ball becomes "Bad Egg".
As with most informal games, the detailed rules vary with Location. For example, in one variation the ball retriever may take an agreed number of steps towards their chosen target.

Œufs Cassés

Les œufs cassés, 1756
Jean-Baptiste Greuze
huile sur toile
Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York

Egg Atomic Bomb

The "Fat Man" Atomic Bomb

In 1945 the United States covert operation known as The Manhattan Project achieved its goal - to create the first atomic bomb. Since its inception in 1939, scientist had struggled to find a way to harness the power of fission. Through the combined efforts of many, a test bomb known as "Fat Boy" was finally created. On July 16, 1945 in a desert in New Mexico the worlds first nuclear test, codenamed Trinity, was conducted and ushered in the Atomic Age. The Trinity test success led to the creation of two more atomic bombs that would be used in World War II.

On August 6, 1945 the American B-29 bomber known as the Enola Gay released the first atomic bomb to be used in warfare. The bomb nicknamed "Little Boy" (uranium) detonated in Hiroshima, Japan. "Little Boy's" explosion resulted in 80 000 instantanous deaths.

Three days after, on August 9, 1945 a second bomb named "Fat Man" (plutonium) was released on the town of Nagasaki, Japan. It annihilated nearly half of the city. In one split-second, 74 000 died and 75 000 injured, and several hundred thousand others diseased and died due to fallout and other illness caused by radiation.

L'Œuf In Vitro

L'Œuf Transparent
, 1986
Jacques Testart
Ed. Flammarion
